Helen Vonita Harton Chambers passed into her Savior's arms on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the age of 89 at home surrounded by her family whom she loved dearly. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, Texas, with Reverend Richard Segars and Dr. Mark Bumpus officiating. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Helen was born on January 31, 1928 in Graham, Texas to the late Buena Mae and Leo Harton. Helen was blessed to be raised by her grandparents, Henry and Sally Lisles, whom loved her as their own.
She married Raymond Charles (RC) Chambers, the love of her life, on February 29, 1944 at the Young County Courthouse in Graham, Texas. The two celebrated 68 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.
Helen's life was governed by her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was truly a woman of God who loved God and loved people. Helen was a member of First Baptist Church of Graham where she served in the preschool department for many years.
Helen was known for her spunky attitude and self-determination. Even in the later seasons of her life she continued to have a quick wit and readiness for sharing stories. She enjoyed making others laugh and often her stories included her family and RC's adventures chasing the oilfield.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Buena Mae and Leo Harton and Henry and Sally Lisles; husband RC Chambers; brothers Dick Lisles, Frank Lisles, Alvin Lisles, Red Lisles; sisters Sybil Ainsworth and Katheryn Brooks; son in laws Jim Wiley and Bob Chandler.
Helen blessed countless people in her life, especially her family who she deeply cared for and loved. She will be missed and remembered by her two daughters and their families. Daughters: Sandra Chambers Wiley of Graham and Becky Chambers Chandler of Irving. Grandchildren: Jimmy Wiley and wife Donnett of Loving, Gary Don Wiley and wife Kim of Kalispell, Montana, Shalleen Wagnon and husband Jason of Colleyville, Mindy Stanley of North Richland Hills, Todd Stanley and wife Dena of Arlington. Great grandchildren: Pete Wiley, Joshua "Pal" Wiley, Miranda Wiley, Kris Wiley, Morgan Briceno, Emily Maahs and Judah Stanley. Great-great grandchild: Robbie Wiley. And many nieces and nephews.
Helen was blessed with great care and nurses from Beyond Faith Hospice.
