Welcome to the memorial page for

Margaret "Maggie" Lawrencine Culp

July 23, 1930 ~ May 14, 2017 (age 86)

Margaret “Maggie” Lawrencine Culp went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday May 14, 2017 at her home in Graham, surrounded by her loving family.

Maggie was born on July 23, 1930 in Gainesville, Texas to the late Lawrence and Vera (Duncan) Davis. She was united in marriage on January 28, 1949 in Wilmington, North Carolina to William Emerson Culp an active member in the United States Marine Corps. William and Maggie had a beautiful, loving relationship throughout his military career and subsequent teaching career at Cooke County Community College. Maggie attended Cooke County Community College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She spent her nursing career of 35 plus years in Gainesville, Texas and Graham, retiring when she was 78 years old. Her amazing God given gift to nurture and love those in need brought her countless friends and companions who will dearly miss her.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Culp; her brother, Joe D. Davis; her son-in-law, Richard Nunley; her son, Yancy Walter Culp; and her daughter Cindy Culp.

Maggie is survived by many beloved family members including her daughter, Donna Allen and husband Donald Allen of Graham; her son, Bill Culp and wife Charlotte of Rosston; her five grandchildren, Shawnee, Angel and Buck Nunley, Yancy Culp, and Cindy Friedrich; six great-grandchildren, Dally, Sterling, and Brax Friedrich, Maggie Nunley, Lily and Scout Culp; and extended friends and family members.

Maggie has lived on the family farm outside of Graham since her husband’s death in 1985. Since her retirement from Graham Regional Medical Center in 2008, she has enjoyed reading, writing, gardening and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. We are overwhelmingly blessed to have known her as a mother, grandmother and most importantly as a wonderful friend. Our comfort comes from knowing she lives on with our Lord and Savior in heaven and has been reunited there with many loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all, however, the sweet memories of Maggie Culp will live on forever. The family will plan  a private gathering to celebrate her beautiful life.
