Betty E. Byrd Kendrick

Betty E. Byrd Kendrick, 76, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 in Denton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Oak Street Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Finfrock and Will Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Betty was born on February 26, 1933 in Electra to the late Jack R. and Ollie (Cook) Byrd. She went to grade school at Rocky Point on Beaver Creek and later to High School at Electra and played the base drum in her high school band. On June 4, 1950 she married Glen Kendrick and they moved to Wichita Falls and had two children, Debbie and Carlton. In 1960 they moved to Graham where she worked and retired from AMF Tuboscope as office manager in 1989. She was involved in Desk and Derrick, Democratic Women and was current Democratic Chair of Young County.

Survivors include: husband, Glen Kendrick of Graham; daughter, Debbie Kendrick of Graham; daughter-in-law, Lori Kendrick of Graham; two grandchildren, Carly Sobczak and husband Garret of Houston and Brady Kendrick of Denton.

She was preceded in death by a son, Carlton Kendrick on January 30, 2009.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Graham Little League Association, or Oak Street Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m.
