Billy Wood

Billy Charles Wood passed away Friday, April 17, 2026 in Wichita Falls. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church.

Billy was born in Lubbock, Texas July 15, 1940 to William and Charlene Mastin Wood. He graduated in 1958 from Morton High school in Morton, Texas. He was President of his Senior class and also Student Council President. He was active in sports and lettered in Football, basketball, baseball and Track. After graduation, he attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1962 with a degree in Business. After graduation, he joined the Comptroller of the Currency, a bank regulatory agency that is part of the U.S. Treasury. He served there for 25 years, rising to the position of Deputy Comptroller in charge of Multinational and International Banking. After taking early retirement, he did consulting work and lived for one year in Europe serving as a technical advisor to the National Bank of Slovakia. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served as Administrative Board Chair, Annual Conference delegate, and chaired various committees. He was active in the Lions Club, serving in local and state office positions. In 2017, he was inducted in to the Texas Lions Hall of Fame, the highest honor that can be given to a Lion in the State of Texas. Billy was active locally and served as a Board Member and President of the Graham Concert Association.

In 2019 he celebrated fifty years of marriage to Rosena (Rose) Molzahn. He is survived by two children, Patrick Wood and Lori Wood, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
