Bonnie Rothell McGee, 92, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Harrell Braddock, pastor of Jean United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Red Top Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Bonnie was born June 27, 1934 in Olney to the late Glenn and Irene (Mobley) Rothell. She was the court reporter for Young County and the District Court for 20 years until retiring in 1973. Bonnie married Kenneth McGee, December 3, 1955 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Bonnie and Kenneth farmed together in Young County, and she continued running the farm after his death in 2011. She was a member of Jean United Methodist Church and served there faithfully as pianist until shortly before her death.
Survivors include: son, Russell O. McGee and wife Karmen of Bryan; daughter, DeRenda McGee Phenow and husband Ken of Oakdale, CA.; grandchildren, Molly McGee, Betsy Wallace and husband Kevin, Hayley Tuggle and husband Cooper, and Matthew McGee, Joe and Mary Phenow; great-grandchildren, Titus, Tripp, and Sadie Tuggle, and William Wallace; sisters, Eloise Sears and husband Ray of Denton, and Betty Brashears and husband Alan of McKinney; and Bill Atwood, a dear friend and neighbor.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and a brother, Wayne Rothell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Solaris Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
