GRAHAM, TEXAS - Carter Beverly King III, age 67, a Master Social Worker, went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2026 in Graham, Texas surrounded by family and friends.
Carter was born in Graham, Young County, Texas on November 1, 1958 to Beverly W. King, Jr. and Chloe Stalcup King, the youngest of four children. He attended Graham public schools, graduating from Graham High School in 1976. He earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in social work.
Carter compassionately practiced as a social worker in a number of areas including mental health, addiction and recovery and gerontological care. His broad experience included clinical care, hospitals, homes for the aging and the Indian Health Service.
A 6th generation Texan, Carter was avidly interested in Texas and frontier history. He also enjoyed music, playing guitar, sailing and spending long evenings at his home on Possum Kingdom Lake, contemplating life and the changing view of the sky and the water.
Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly W. King, Jr. and Chloe Stalcup King and is survived by longtime friend and companion, Dana Newsom; by brothers Kelly Bert King and his wife, Debbie of Fritch and Steve Mason King and his wife, Julie of Fort Worth and by sister, Nancy King Rosebrough and her husband, Charles Asher Rosebrough III of Graham. Other survivors include five nieces, two nephews and fourteen great-nieces and nephews and by maternal uncle Edwards Stalcup and wife, Ann of Malibu, California.
Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
