Charley was born April 6, 1955 in Olney to Alwana Moody Burch and Wiley P. "Nick" Burch. He grew up in Newcastle and proudly attended Newcastle High School, where he graduated in 1973. Charley was a member of the 1971 Newcastle Bobcat football team class B eleven man Regional Champions for that year. He loved football especially the Graham Steers and was a "walking encyclopedia" of football knowledge. He also loved his hobby of photography and shared his photos with friends and family. He enjoyed writing about sports and shared many of his stories with the Graham Leader. His accurate and comical way of expressing words were always enjoyed by the readers. Charley served as "night watchman" for fifteen years at the annual Young County Junior Livestock Show, which he loved very much. His motto was "Not one pig left the premises on my watch!!" He also loved to work with his Dad "Nick" on the Burch Ranch and care for his mother, Alwana for many years in their home. Charley was a born again Christian and loved the weekly devotionals by Jimmy and Debbie Martin at Graham Oaks Care Center.

Charley's survivors include; brother, Lee Wiley Burch and wife Janan of Lake Graham; sisters, Mary Helen Hart of Graham and Karen Burch Edwards of Denton; aunts, June Sanderson of Vernon, Lou Ann Hyles of Graham, Nita Holler of Wichita Falls, and Scooter Riley of Newcastle; Charles is also blessed with many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends throughout the USA. Longtime Burch family friends, Billy D. and Olga J. Mote of LaMesa, CA. survive as well.

Memorials may be made to the Brandon Bailey Scholarship, C/O Dancey Creel, P.O.Box 203, Newcastle, TX. 76372 or Chad Moore Scholarship, C/O Farmers State Bank, P.O. Box 10, Newcastle, Texas 76372.
