Danny Drennan

Danny E. Drennan, 84, of Graham, Texas, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Graham Oaks Care Center, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. While his family grieves his passing, they rejoice knowing he is healed, whole, and in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Danny was born on October 11, 1941, in Padgett, Texas, at home, where he was lovingly delivered by his paternal grandmother, Ola Drennan. He attended grade school in Wichita Falls before graduating from Graham High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army.

After returning home from military service, Danny lived with his aunt and uncle, Howard and Gladys Peterson, in Loving, Texas, while working in the oil field. During those years, he played guitar and sang with the local band, The Playboys.

It was during this time that God brought the love of his life into his path. Danny met Lynell Harris at Pierce's Grocery Store in Markley, where she made him a sandwich. It must have been an unforgettable sandwich because they went on their first date on February 7, became engaged just twenty days later on February 27, and Danny sold his beloved guitar to buy Lynell an engagement ring. They were married on June 26, 1965, beginning a beautiful marriage that lasted more than 61 years and was filled with faith, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Danny never shied away from hard work. Throughout his career he worked for Hexcel, Bell Helicopter in Amarillo and Hurst, Air Tractor (formerly Snow Aeronautical Company), Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Dow Chemical in Freeport, Graham Magnetics, and Texas Electric Power Plant, now known as Luminant. Eventually, he fulfilled his dream of working for himself as an independent owner and operator in the oil and gas industry. He also enjoyed buying and selling land, ranching, and raising livestock.

Danny and Lynell shared many adventures together, including spending time in Ruidoso, New Mexico, where they were part owners of racehorses for a time. He loved the outdoors, ranch life, and spending time with family. He especially enjoyed spoiling his beloved dogs, Marci and Darci.

A faithful Christian and member of First Baptist Church of Graham, Danny lived his faith through kindness, generosity, and service to others. His favorite Bible verse was Matthew 7:7:

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you."

Danny believed in giving back to his community. He was a member of the Goodfellows, served on the Board of Directors of the Graham Lions Club, and was a former member of the J.D. Burke Scholarship Committee, a cause that remained especially close to his heart.

If you stopped by Drennan Realty, there was a good chance you'd be greeted by Danny—provided you caught him while he was awake. He proudly welcomed visitors, assembled real estate signs, and occasionally managed to put the wrong property flyers into the wrong flyer boxes. Those little mix-ups became part of his charm and left his family with countless smiles and treasured memories.

Danny will be remembered as a kind, generous, humble, hardworking, and thoughtful man whose quiet strength and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him. Danny never met a stranger. Whether he was talking about cattle, oil wells, real estate, racehorses, or simply asking how someone was doing, he had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or share a story. His greatest treasures were his faith, his family, and the life he built alongside Lynell. Though his family will miss his smile, his laughter, and his steady presence, they rejoice knowing they will see him again in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin L. Drennan and Annie Lee Wood; his stepfather, Fred Wood; his paternal grandmother, Ola Drennan; his aunt and uncle, Howard and Gladys Peterson; and Don Peterson, whom he loved as a brother.

Danny is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Lynell Drennan of Graham; his daughters, Arrenia Drennan-Pillans and husband, James, of Graham, and Dana Drennan of Graham; his sisters, Geri Drennan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Brenda Jernigan of Richland Hills, Texas; his brothers, Tommy Drennan of Weatherford, Texas, and Neal Drennan of Weatherford, Texas; his grandsons, Michael Irby and Nolan Pillans; his great-grandson, Brantley Irby; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the loving staff of Graham Oaks Care Center for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care they provided Danny. Special thanks are also extended to Kathy Ferguson, Beyond Faith Hospice, and the many family members and friends who faithfully visited, prayed with him, and surrounded him with love during his final days.

The measure of a man's life is not found in the things he accumulated, but in the lives he touched. Danny's legacy will live on in the family he cherished, the friends he made, and the countless people who were blessed to know him.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing that Danny has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." His legacy of faith, love, hard work, generosity, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Graham and a celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be held at Loving Cemetery in Loving.
