Darlene Hawkins, 76, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 at her home in Graham. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 29, 2024 at 2 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.
Darlene was born January 28, 1948 in Clifton to the late McKinney and Josephine Sadler. She married LV Hawkins April 23, 1965 in Palo Pinto County. Doll always greeted her friends and family with a warm embrace that made everyone feel immediately at home. Her house quickly became a haven for loved ones—a place where the doors were always open, music filled the air, and conversations flowed endlessly. Doll had a gift for talking, and she loved when anyone tried to outdo her. Every conversation with her left you with a fresh perspective, as she effortlessly wove wisdom into her words, gleaned from years of life and experience.
Her radiant smile and welcoming disposition brought peace to all who knew her. Her laughter was contagious, a joyful sound that could be heard from anywhere she was. And, of course, her cooking—delicious and comforting—kept people coming back to her table time and time again.
Doll’s love for her family was unshakable, matched only by her steadfast faith in God. She and her husband dedicated countless hours to Mount Zion Baptist Church before moving to Arizona for his work with LV. After LV retired they moved back to Graham bringing with her the same warmth and love she had always shared.
She was an extraordinary woman who lived a full and meaningful life. She loved being loved, but she loved giving love even more. With her husband, she created an unforgettable legacy, growing and nurturing a family that was her greatest joy.
Doll was a wonderful woman, a devoted mother, and a cherished friend. She touched the lives of so many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include: husband, LV Hawkins of Graham; daughter, Felicia Hawkins of Saint Joseph, MO; sister Dorothy Lane and husband, Bennie of Graham; 6 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons, James Hawkins, Roosevelt Hawkins, and Lester Vern Hawkins, and brother, James Andrew Sadler.
