David Ross Bowden, beloved father, grandfather, friend, and cow man, was turned to pasture on August 21, 2026, in Graham, Texas.
David called Graham, Texas, home for 47 years, where he raised three children and worked for more than 40 years at First National Bank before retiring. Throughout his years in Graham, raising his family, and working at the bank, David made countless friends and formed community ties that lasted a lifetime.
David was born in Yuma, Arizona, on February 3, 1949, to Bruce and Katy Lou Bowden. He grew up in Santo, Texas, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
David settled in Graham in 1979, where he raised three children with Roseanna Bowden: Ryan, Neal, and Erin. At the time of his passing, David was married to Sandy Groves, who shared his life and was by his side.
David loved watching his children grow up, but his grandchildren held an especially special place in his heart. He had a passion for the outdoors, team roping, rodeos, and livestock—especially cattle. He was a mountain of a man with an even bigger heart, and his presence, friendship, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
David leaves behind a legacy of family, friendship, hard work, and a love for the Western way of life that will live on in those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 11 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.
