David Howell

David Ray Howell, age 84, went to heaven with a sweet smile on his face, August 29, 2026 in Graham. There will be a visitation at Morrison Funeral Home September 14, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Eastland Cemetery, with a celebration of life Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 1 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born in Crane, Texas on September 30, 1941 to Floy Ray Howell and Virginia Christine (Wilkerson) Howell. He was raised in Breckenridge, Texas surrounded by a large Howell clan, with shenanigans and mischief being the family foundation.

After graduating Breckenridge High School, he went to Abilene Christian College, which he referred to as Abilene “Courtin’” College. Needless to say, he met and married Drusilla Elizabeth Cook in Memphis, Texas July 4, 1964.

After graduating from ACC in 1965 he and his bride moved to Lake Jackson, Texas where he worked for Dow Chemical in Research and Development for 30 years.

After retirement, he and the wife moved to Mineral Wells, Texas to be closer to family.

David had a passion for American history and service, so volunteering with the National Vietnam War Museum was a perfect fit! That is until he found his true calling…teaching, at Perrin High School. He taught chemistry and physics for 9 years. He not only taught, but he fully immersed himself into Perrin High School, attending all sporting events and extracurricular activities. His proudest achievement (after his daughter and granddaughters) is his “Board of Education” a literal board of wood that he had every single one of his students sign.

The absolute best part of David’s “interesting” were his last two years, that he spent at Elison Assisted Living in Graham. He was on a mission to make everyone smile, feel appreciated, roll their eyes and say “Are you kidding me?!”

David is survived by his daughter Dru Isom and son-in-law, Brent of Graham; granddaughters, Hannah Floyd and husband, Braxton of Montgomery, Texas and Olivia Isom of Southport, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister-in-law, Debbie Capshaw Cook.
