Deanna "Dea" Susan Smith, 57, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in Palo Pinto County. Memorial services will be Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.

Dea was born March 17, 1961 in Fort Worth to the late Hershell and Deanna Estelle (Smith) Green. She was the Postmaster for Graford. Dea was a beautiful, loving soul. She passionately loved all living things, An insect or a swan were objects where she would find beauty and joy. She was a 31 year employee of the United States Postal service, where she took pride and joy in the work that she did. Customer service was always the first priority with Dea. She loved her customers and strived daily to do the absolute best job that she could do for them.

She was a devoted and loving wife. The love shown to her husband, Kevin, every day was tremendous. The joy and passion that Kevin and Dea shared will never be dampened. As Kevin went through vet school at Texas A&M, Dea was his rock. When times got tough Dea would be there with unconditional love and support. She would reply to him with scriptures and loving words that got him through.

She loved her Dogs Izzy, Ciara and Lady. They were all rescue dogs that needed her at the lowest points of their lives. Dea was there with a loving heart and caring hands and gave those animals that others threw away, a life that most people would be envious to live themselves. Dea and her husband have been raising American Quarter Horses for nearly 23 years. She loved every aspect of running a horse ranch. No one could do a better job than Dea. She was obsessive about her horses' care and would always be there till the job was done.

Sunset and sunrise were times of the day that Dea loved. She would try to find the best views on the ranch to see her beautiful sunsets or sunrise and photograph them. She would always tell her husband "this is my favorite light". She loved to share those pictures and record God's beauty to be admired forever.

Dea loved Jesus Christ and accepted him as her Lord and Savior when she was a child. She studied God's word daily. Dea loved to get up early, have a cup of coffee, have her Bible study, then find a place on the ranch to watch the sunrise.

Any hungry animal just needed to be seen by her to get a meal. She kept dog food, cat food and bird seed in her truck at all times just in case one of God's creatures was hungry. She fed birds around the ranch and loved to watch and photograph them.

This world lost a beautiful, precious soul this week and all of her friends, family and pets will have a void that will not be filled until we see her again with our Lord.

Survivors include: husband, Kevin Gursky of Jacksboro; three sisters, Judy, Connie, and Nancy Green of Ohio; uncle, Jerry Faulk; father and mother in law, Pete and Linda Gursky; dogs, Izzy, Lady, and Ciara and horse, Wichita.
