Dub Myrick

W.J. “Dub” Myrick, 88, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025 in Young County. Graveside service will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 at 10 a.m. in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Dub was born July 24, 1936 in Graham to the late William John Bryan and Agnes Weldon (Cox) Myrick. He married Margaret Ann “Butch” Dozier June 1, 1955 in Graham and she preceded him in death May 10, 2016.

At a very early age Dub became a mechanic, he worked at Sam’s Auto in Graham for many years. Dub married the love of his life Butch in 1955, to this marriage two children were born, Rick and Jackey. They were the light of his life, and he loved them dearly. Later on, Dub became interested in the oilfield where he pumped wells around the Jack County area. He also had an interest in agriculture and spent many years in partnership with his father-in-law, S.R. Dozier, planting and harvesting crops. In 1976 Dub and Butch formed D & B Oil Company, they purchased several oil leases. Dub spent 48 years pumping his oil wells, right up until his last day. Dub enjoyed camping with his family. He and Butch would load up the kids every summer and spend 2 weeks camping in Colorado. They also spent countless weekends at the lake cabin. Later on, he and Butch would load up the grandkids for a week long camping trip every summer. He was so proud of his grandkids and loved them so much. He enjoyed camping trips with friends and even road dirt bikes with them. He spent many hours on the water and loved to fish. Over the last several years he loved spending time with his daughter Jackey going out for a steak and then spending the afternoon at the casino. He loved telling stories about the “good ole days”. He loved his whole family with his whole heart and loved every minute he spent with them. We know he was met at the gates of heaven by the love of his life Butch, who he has missed every day, and they are dancing together again.
