Elaine Day

Ethel “Elaine” Day, 76, went to be the Lord Friday, April 15, 2022, in Graham. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Newcastle, with Reagan Kelley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Elaine was born May 26, 1945, in Crane, Texas to the late Tom and Mae (Roberts) Brightman. Elaine and James “Butch” were married May 24, 1962, in Newcastle.

Elaine had many friends. She loved sewing with her “sew fun” girlfriends and was an outstanding quilter. She enjoyed making quilts for her family and friends. The “B.I.B.L.E.” girls were lifelong friends, made up of: Brenda, Iris, Bonnie, Lola, and Elaine. In her retirement years, Elaine and Butch enjoyed traveling and spent many months on the road and made many new friends along the way.

Survivors include: spouse of 59 years, James “Butch” Day; son, Larry Day and wife Cathy of Elk City, Oklahoma; daughters, LeAnne Hodges and husband Jay of Graham, Lori Miller of Graham; sister, Fleda Brogdon and husband Gary of Graham; grandchildren, Trevor Hodges and wife Ashley of Graham; Greg Miller of Abilene, Grace Miller of Graham, and Raelynn Day of Gunnison, Colorado; great-grandson, Hudson Hodges; sister-in-laws, Roma Brightman of Graham, Linda Whiteley and husband Harold of Providence Village; four nephews and four nieces, and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Brightman.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm at Morrison Funeral Home.

Memorials to be made to Newcastle First Baptist Church or Beyond Faith Hospice.
