Ernest William Geis, Sr., 101, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Graham. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 7, 2025 at Morrison Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery in Graham.
Ernest was born February 12, 1924 in Scotland, Texas to Ada Christine (Lowack) Geis and William Henry Geis. Ernest was a veteran of the United States Navy during the WW II era. He married Evelyn Huffman and she preceded him in death on May 8, 1951. He married Ada Mae Bitner in 1952 in Archer City and she preceded him in death on April 23, 1970. Ernest was a self-employed mechanic in Archer City before moving to Graham in 1959. He married Gladys Lanelle Poindexter March 3, 1972, she preceded him in death on October 12, 2016. Ernest was a farmer and rancher in Young County and the former owner of Geis Egg Farm raising laying hens for egg production to supply eggs for stores and restaurants in Olney, Graham and Possum Kingdom Lake area for numerous years before retiring in 2003. Mr. Geis’ family and friends called it awesome that even in his 90’s and 100’s he was able to live by himself.
Survivors include; sons, Danny Thacker and wife Molly of Jasper and Mac Martin of Graham; sister, Lucille Motley of Sunset; sister-in-law, Doris Geis of Archer City and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Ernest was preceded in death his parents, son Ernest Geis, Jr., daughter, Gloria Henderson, brothers, Lloyd, Robert and Albert and sister, Ida Mae.
