Gwen Dodson

Gwendolyn Dodson, 83, of Newcastle, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023.  Graveside Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 8, 2023 at Newcastle Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Gwen was born April 17, 1939 in Graham to the late Zula Belle (Jones) Bryant and George Edmond Bryant.  After graduation from Graham High School, she married Charles Hugh Dodson, December 26, 1957 in Graham.  He preceded her in death on December 7, 2017.  Gwen was the 59^th grandchild of Art and Mattie Jones early settlers of Young County.  She was first of all, a Wife, Mother, Granny and Great-Granny, and had been employed at Graham National Bank for over 27 years when she retired in 2008.

Survivors include; sons, Chuck Dodson and wife Beth of Lipan, Chad Dodson and wife Kim of Newcastle; son-in-law, Rickey Foreman of Archer City; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Gwen was preceded in death by a daughter, Charla Foreman, sisters, Doris Birdwell, Veda McCustion and Vera Groover; brothers, Elmer and Everett Bryant.
