Hal Franklin, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Graham Oaks in Graham, TX. 

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 4 p.m. at the Gazebo in Pioneer Cemetery.

Hal was born August 5, 1941 in Fort Worth, TX to the late Hardy and Clara Maude (Vaught) Franklin. He grew up in Saint Jo, Texas and graduated from Saint Jo High School. He attended Oklahoma State University then went on to work in Gainesville, TX at National Tool Supply.  He met Linda Kay Langston in Thackerville, Ok. They married in 1961 and moved to Albuquerque, NM. They had 3 children, Kim, Kelly, and Kirk and later moved to Tulsa, OK, then moved to Pagosa Springs, Co, where he owned and operated Pagosa Hardware store and multiple other businesses.

After several years of business in Pagosa Springs, Hal moved his family to Graham, Texas, where he  owned and operated Franklin Drilling, Inc. Later, Hal moved to Fort Worth, Texas and started an Auto Transport business. Hal’s later years were spent in Tioga, TX, and then Graham, TX. 

Hal was an excellent outdoorsman, rancher, oil man and entrepreneur. He cherished his family and numerous friends. Hal never met a stranger. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, humor, and generosity.  He had a true gift of making people feel welcome.  

He is survived by daughter, Kim Scheriger and husband, Kory of Graham; son, Kelly Franklin and wife, Brenda of Haslet; eight grandchildren, Kayse and husband Austin, Kristyn and husband Matt, Kyler, Katelyn and husband Jerrod, Konnor, Abbie, Graham, Garrett and three great grandchildren, Ledger, Goldie and Oliver.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kirk Franklin and brother, Charles Guinn.
