James Colwell, Jr.

James Howell Colwell, Jr., 65, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 in Graham.  Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Long Hollow Cemetery in Jack County.

James was born September 5, 1958 in Sonora to the late Julia Ann (Scroggins) Bentley and James Howell Colwell, Sr.  He married Rose Birdwell June 23, 1979 in Graham and she preceded him in death October 29, 2021.  James was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked at Wal-Mart for many years.  He loved his family, hunting, fishing, cooking and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include: daughter, Kimberly Shubert and husband, Justin of Graham; son, James “Jimmy” Colwell of Bryson; sister, Cindy McCracken and husband, Stan of Nocona; brother, Kevin Bentley and wife, Julaine of Sanger; grandchildren, Layla, Charlela, William, and Beau Colwell.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Colwell.
