Jo Nell Boyd

Jo Nell Boyd, 91, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 in Graham, Texas. Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial service will take place on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 12:00 pm in the Yantis Cemetery in Yantis, Texas. Visitation will follow at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Mineola, Texas.

Jo Nell was born on February 18, 1931 in Yantis, Texas to Joyce (Coker) and Ellis P. Reed. She married the love of her life, Thurman L. Boyd, in Yantis, Texas on March 1, 1947. Jo Nell was a homemaker for many years, raising their two sons, Lee & Larry. When Thurman began his own well servicing company, she was his office manager, handling all of the company payroll and bookkeeping. Different jobs in the oil and gas industry took them to new places, the last being Oklahoma City, where she retired from Chesapeake Energy as an engineering assistant in 1993. She and Thurman returned to their roots in East Texas and settled in Mineola, where they were members of the First Baptist Church.

Jo Nell was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Thurman Boyd, and her son, Larry Boyd. Survivors include her son, Lee Boyd and wife Caroline of Graham and her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Boyd of Houston; grandchildren: Matt Boyd and wife Laurel, Elizabeth Salazar, Jared Hoaldridge and wife Kayla, Rachel Boyd and Sam Boyd; greatgrandchildren: Adelia Boyd, Ava Cardwell, Frida Salazar, Ema Salazar and Walker Hoaldridge.
