Johnny Dyer

Johnny Mac Dyer, 78, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at his home in Graham. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Johnny was born September 23, 1946 in Graham to the late Emory Edward and Dorothy Lee (Cox) Dyer. He was a retired cook on an offshore drilling rig. Johnny was a unique character, and loved by many, and in his life time he cheated death many times. He knew no fear. He survived a traumatic brain injury at age 7 that left him unable to do anything. Doctors continuously warned his mother he would not live to be an adult. He went to live a very interesting life. He was a good brother and uncle, he loved his family very much. At age 40 he became a father and from that day on he lived for his children and his grandchildren. He was the best Dad and the best Pawpaw. His loss is truly heartbreaking for those who knew and loved him. He was a legend.

Survivors include: daughters, Crystal Castro and husband, Ricky of Graham and Jennifer Dyer of Graham; sister, Connie Mathews and husband, Barry of Graham; brothers, Jerry Dyer and wife, Wanda of Louisiana and Emery Dyer of Joshua; grandchildren, Alexis Dyer, Ricky Castro, II, Jordan Cardenas, Johnny Castro, and Tony Charles; great grandchild, Roman Monroy; special thanks to Johnny Mathews and Ann Edmundson for their love to Johnny.
