Lawrence S. Ward, 86, died on Sunday, April 11, 2010 in Graham. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond Brooks, minister of Loving Highway Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Lawrence was born on December 7, 1923 in a Log House in Falls County, Texas near Rosebud to the late Plez Selma and Mattie Lou (Bozeman) Ward. On his 18th birthday the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific and to the Army of Occupation in Japan. He came to Graham in 1947 from Falls County and married Dixie Mae Creager on September 18, 1948. He worked in the oil fields as a mechanic, pumper, and an owner operator. He ranched Northwest of Lake Graham for 46 years and was a member of Loving Highway Church of Christ.

Survivors include: wife, Dixie Ward of Graham; sisters, Beatrice Davison and Frances Davison of Graham; brother, Gordon Ward of Longview; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
