Ledford Lewis ‘Pete’ Nicks, 91, passed away peacefully at his home at Possum Kingdom Lake, Saturday, May 20th 2023. visitation will be at Morrison Funeral Home on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside funeral will be held at Palo Pinto Cemetery on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Pete was born August 29th, 1931 to Cisero Paschal Nicks and Josie Lela (Cook) Nicks in Lone Camp, Texas. He had two brothers, Bill & J.L. and two sisters, Lorene & Vernell.

Pete grew up in a family of hard workers. This instilled the work ethic that Pete carried with him into adulthood. He enjoyed cedar hacking with his Dad and learning masonry. The love of family and time spent fishing and hunting are passions that he passed on to his sons. He met Patcie Taylor through family friendships developed during his childhood. Pete and Patcie began dating when they attended Mineral Wells High School together from 1945-1949. Pete credits Patcie for getting him through high school and helping him graduate. They graduated in 1949 and got married March 3rd, 1950.

 Pete went to work for LoneStar Gas in Breckenridge, Texas. He also did construction work for some time before moving his family to Arlington, Texas where he enjoyed a 31 year career with American Airlines.

Besides work, Pete also enjoyed coaching Little League baseball. One of his proudest moments was winning the Arlington Little League Championship title.

Pete was a member of First Baptist Church Possum Kingdom Lake and a Master Mason for over 60 years. He also was a faithful supporter of the Scottish-Rite for Children.

Pete is survived by his son Phil (& wife Angela), daughter-in-law Rhonda, son Joe (& wife Sarah). Grandchildren Sarah Jenkins (& husband Scott), Lauren Nicks and fiance’ Isaac Linnabary, granddaughter Crystal Foster, and grandson Will Nicks. 6 great grandchildren, niece Cathy Doty (& husband Darrell) and many more nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Patcie Taylor Nicks, twin daughters Eva Dorinda &, Devorah Jo, son Wayne Nicks, great granddaughter Jordan, his parents and siblings.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church PK or Scottish-Rite for Children
