Leo Harlan Cook, 94, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Graham. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Veale Creek Cemetery near Possum Kingdom Lake.
Leo was born November 5, 1930, in Dublin, Texas, to the late Herbert and Mary (Berry) Cook. He married Myrtle Joan Thomas on July 3, 1957, in Rotan. Leo moved to Possum Kingdom Lake in 1979 from Bridge City and became self-employed, starting Cook Construction shortly thereafter.
Leo loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends. This is where he truly shined—hosting countless family reunions, holidays, and get-togethers. He enjoyed anything outdoors: hunting, fishing, and boating. While running his company, he also managed to grow the biggest garden on the lake, along with an abundance of fruit and pecan trees. He loved telling stories at local establishments over his daily beer, and if you saw him at a restaurant or dance hall, you’d know he couldn’t stay off the dance floor when Joan was in his arms.
Survivors include his daughter, Letha Stone of Possum Kingdom Lake; sons, Dwaine Cook, and Bert Cook and wife, Mary, all of Possum Kingdom Lake; grandchildren, Stacie DeLeon and husband, Eloy, Kristy Ward and husband, Terry, Jeremy Cook and wife, Kristin, Niki Rogers and husband, Michael, Nathan Cook and wife, Sarah, and Andrea Cook; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Clyde Buckner of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Tyne Reflogal, Joy Buckner, and Wanda White; and brothers, Don Cook, V.B. Cook, and Charles Cook.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
