Lisa Dianne Edwards

Lisa Dianne Edwards, 67, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 in Graham after a hard-fought, decade-long battle with cancer.  A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Young County Courthouse gazebo at 10:30 a.m. with meal to follow at the First Baptist Church.

Lisa was born December 12, 1955 in Graham to the late Fern Ozell (McNeill) and John P. Edwards.

She occasionally pointed out that she “grew up in jail,” as the family lived in the sheriff’s apartment in the 1921 county jail for much of her childhood.  Lisa lived life on her own terms, and she relished the fact that some regarded her outspoken ways as indicating an “unusual person.”  She was stubborn to a fault, but at the same time freely extended love and care to many in need—especially during the years that she was employed as a home health aide for the elderly. Lisa was deeply loved by those blessed with the opportunity to truly know her.

Survivors include: daughter, Julia Keith and husband, George of Newcastle; son, John Miller and wife, Karri of Olney; grandchildren, Hagen Davis, Mazzy Miller, Jazzton Miller, and Goldie Keith; brother, John P. Edwards, Jr. and wife, Mary of Florida.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Garon Davis and brother, Neill Edwards.
