Lottie Mayes

Lottie Ann Mayes, 85, entered the gates of Heaven Sunday, July 2, 2023 surrounded by her family at her home in Graham. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham. A graveside funeral will be held in Pioneer Cemetery Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 10 a.m. under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Lottie was born May 9, 1938 in Loving, Texas to the late Marion Murl Houser and Lorene Ponds Houser. She married Doyle Mayes September 3, 1955 in Graham. Lottie worked as a receptionist at Graham Medical Associates for 27 years. She also was the Director of Food Services at First Baptist Church for 15 years after her retirement from the medical clinic. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Graham. Lottie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Most importantly, she was a faithful servant to Jesus and followed Him throughout her life. She was the perfect example of what having a servant’s heart was supposed to look like here on earth. Lottie loved to cook and used that gift to serve others and show her love through her food. Lottie loved to paint and do crafts with her family. However, her greatest enjoyment came from watching her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren participate in all of their activities and having an active role in showing them all the love of Christ.

Lottie is survived by daughter Carole Headrick, granddaughter Misty Gonzales and husband Jonas, granddaughter Sandy Little and husband Steve, grandson Brandon Headrick, granddaughter Heather Steele and husband Greg, grandson Greg Mayes and wife Heather, grandson Dusty Mayes and wife Jaci, granddaughter Staci Utterback and husband Brandon, granddaughter Julia Keith and husband George, sister Dorothy Shifflett and husband Harold, brother Virgil Houser and wife Sheila, 25 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren.

Lottie was preceded in death by her husband Doyle Mayes, and son Allen Mayes.
