Louis Dayne Miller

Louis Dayne Miller, 89, passed away at his home in Cedar Park, TX on Monday, October 6, 2025.  Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 18, 2025 at First United Methodist Church Graham. Burial will follow in Cottonwood Cemetery in Bryson.

Dayne was born in 1936 in Graham to the late Vennie Lee (Brannon) Miller and Tom Matheny Miller. He married Letta Jane “Janie” Caldwell and they raised 3 children in Texas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and California.

Dayne received his law degree from The University of Texas Law School and remained a lifetime Longhorn fan. He practiced law in Graham with his father for a few years before joining the legal department of General Dynamics Corporation in Fort Worth, then Connecticut, Massachusetts, and California. He returned to Graham to open his own law practice until his retirement in 1996. He was later elected and served as Young County Attorney until his second retirement in 2010.

Dayne was a member of First United Methodist Church of Graham, where he served as a member of the board and in other leadership roles, including lay pastor. He was for many years an active Graham Rotary Club member and took joy in helping to produce many annual Follies. Dayne also loved to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, where he helped to complete homes in Washington state as well as in Graham. After his first retirement from the law, he achieved a lifelong dream by becoming licensed as a Captain of an Ocean-going vessel, and took great joy in recalling his adventures as a deep water sailor.

Dayne was preceded in death by his parents, by his daughter Connye Jo Miller, by his grandson Brad Crelia, by his sister Bunnye Miller Baldwin, and by his beloved wife, Janie.

Survivors include: son, William Randolph “Randy” Miller and wife, Christy (Bollinger) Miller, of Leander; daughter Dayna Miller Blaser and husband, Bruce, of Spokane WA; sisters Tommye Leah Lyles and Connye Barrow Hamlin and husband Albert Leon Hamlin, all of Graham; and nine grandchildren Michael Ward, Sarah St Clair and Kelsi Blaser; Walt Draper and Christian Draper; Max Miller, Layla Miller, Lincoln Miller and Georgia Miller. He has also enjoyed the pleasure of having two great- grandsons David Ward and Rhys Miller.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any donations in his name go to his home church of First United Methodist Church, 600 W Park Street, Cedar Park, TX. 78613.

Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” - John 15:5 (NIV)
