Martha L. Burkett

Martha L. Burkett, 93, passed away Saturday July 12, 2025 in Graham. Graveside funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 17, 2025 at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham.

Martha was born August 18, 1931 in Anson to the late Arlene (Baucum) Spraberry and Shapard Spraberry. She married Jay Burkett August 19, 1971 in Anson, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2025.

Martha was a retired LVN surgical nurse having worked for 35 years in hospitals including Anson, Abilene and West Texas Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Possum Belle Red Hat Ladies.

Survivors include; son, James Robert Scott and wife Rachel of Springfield, MO.; step-daughter, Kelley Burkett Tomerlin and husband Terry of Weatherford; step-son, Clint Burkett and wife Crystal of PK Lake; grandchildren, Aaron Scott and Melissa Scott; step-grandchildren, Hannah Allen, Jarrod, Justin, and Jaycie Burkett; two great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; niece and nephew, Loylene Muncy Northcutt and sons Alex and Ben, Colin Muncy and wife Connie, Julie Patrick and husband J.D. and son Dane Abbott, Christie Dunnam husband Don and sons Rial and Elijah, Scott Spraberry and wife Rhonda and daughter Sidney; sister-in-law, Mary Spraberry.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Dennis Scott, brothers, Jerry Jan Spraberry and Billy Robert Spraberry, sister, Barbara Muncy and husband Lloyd.

The family wants to thank Chandra “Little Bit” Weber and the staff of Beyond Faith Hospice for their care and compassion.
