Marty Lee Kinder

Marty Lee Kinder, 64, passed away peacefully at home with those he loved most on September 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of joyful memories with his family and friends.

Marty was born on October 27, 1961 in Jacksboro, Texas, to Bobby Lee and Barbara Ann Kinder. Marty grew up in Graham, Texas and created his homestead at Bunger on his father’s land. He graduated from Graham High School in 1980 and carried a wide range of careers. He always loved a challenge, so his jobs frequently changed. His first job was as the neighborhood newspaper boy which transitioned to many years at United Supermarket. Marty loved to workout as a young man, so he opened his own gym called The Body Shop on Oak Street. He always had a sweet tooth, so when he started driving the Little Debbie truck no one was surprised when he brought home little snacks (they were expired!). After years of deliveries, he decided to carry on his father’s legacy and became an avid welder at HUB Machine & Tool. This skill led to career opportunities at Southern Bleacher Company and Steel Stadiums. During his last 14 years, he was a devoted employee at Targa Resources.

Marty found great joy in the simple things of life, especially those that allowed him to be outdoors and surrounded by the people he loved. He enjoyed hunting, welding and building different projects, tending to his pecan orchard, and watching baseball games of all ages. He loved baseball so much that you could find him on any day repairing, replacing and welding the fencing at the current baseball fields at Fireman’s Park. Above all, he treasured his time with family. Some of his fondest memories were made during family gatherings at Bunger, where holidays were filled with laughter, good food, and even better stories. These gatherings and the memories created there will be cherished by his family for years to come.

Not only was he a wonderful son, brother, father and uncle, but he was the best “Pops” in the whole wide world to his grandchildren. Though he could barely walk due to his illness, he made sure to load his walker up with multiple cookies as he waited for Garrison and Eleanor to visit. They could always rely on him to make them laugh, give them a warm hug and share a sweet treat. Pops is now able to easily walk and run happily and we are so thankful that he is no longer in pain.

Marty will be remembered for his warm smile, his silly sense of humor and his strong work ethic. Though he will be very missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace.

Marty was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lee Kinder and his sister, Lea Ann Edwards.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann Ivey and step-father Ron Ivey of Mineral Wells, Texas; his sister, Karen Kinder Mercer of Mineral Wells, Texas; his two children Christopher Kinder of Andrews, Texas and Chelsea Giebler and husband, Padyn Giebler of Graham, Texas; and his 2 grandchildren, Garrison and Eleanor Giebler. He is also survived by his loving nieces, Amanda Edwards and Ashley Humphrey, and nephew, Matt Edwards; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

The family would love to thank his nurses and staff at Beyond Faith Home Health and his close friend, Lacy Buhr for the compassionate care he received over the last few years.

Marty’s family would like to invite all family and friends to remember him at a visitation held at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, Texas on Thursday, September 10th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Everyone is also welcome to join the family for a graveside service officiated by Pastor Dawayne Barnett at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham, Texas on Friday, September 11th at 10:00am.
