Monty Craig Graves, Sr.

Monty Craig Graves, Sr., 65, passed away November 11, 2025, at his home surrounded by his children. Funeral is scheduled 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 18, 2025 at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery.

Monty was born May 7, 1960 in Graham to the late Doris Reedy Graves and Marion Graves. Monty grew up in Graham and spent several years living in Granbury.  Monty was a man who lived life his own way — hardworking, loyal, and full of humor. The oilfield was vital to his happiness. It was not just where he worked — it was where he felt alive. It gave him purpose, friendships that felt like family, and stories that could fill a lifetime. He was the kind of man who could make anyone laugh, no matter the moment. His humor came easy, quick, clever, and sometimes just a little ridiculous. Golf was something rooted deep in him. It was not just a hobby it was where he found peace, laughter, and a quiet kind of happiness that nothing else could give him. Then there was his bass guitar. His soul came through every deep note he played. Music was his language, and the bass was how he spoke it: smooth, steady, and full of feeling.

Survivors include; children, Meagan Graves and husband Derrick Busch; Emily Graves; Monty Graves, Jr. and wife Adriane; former wife, Amy Graves; Taylor Graves Gonzalez and husband Ben and Taylor’s mother Lisa Henry; sisters, Robbie Williams and husband Don of Lenoir, NC, Kerri Nowowjski and husband David of Cypress; brothers Paul Graves and Elizabeth of Wylie and Redge Graves of Denton; 15 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Monty will be remembered for his humor, his strength, and his love for music, family, and life itself. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him most.

Family visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
