Opal Harriet Floyd, 94, died Saturday, December 06, 2008 in Graham. A graveside funeral will be held Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mountain View Cemetery in Deming, New Mexico. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Opal was born August 8, 1914 in Sylvester, Texas to the late Abner Johnson and Avie Marilla (Garner) Cook. She married Walter King Floyd, October 1, 1932 in Newman, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1988. Opal was a longtime resident of Deming, New Mexico and a retired sales clerk for Sprouse Reitz Department Store. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Deming and a homemaker. Opal moved to Graham in 2001 from Deming, NM.
Survivors include; daughters, Ruby Gladell Floyd of Deming, NM. and Marilla Joyce Cook of Graham; five grandchildren, Gary Duncan, Gail McCaslin, Ron Cook, Renee Hobson, and Rob Cook; twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by nine sisters and three brothers.
