Patricia Borman

If you were lucky enough to meet Patricia Borman, many knew her as “Pat”, you probably walked away thinking, “Wow... She is a Class Act” and you’d be right.

Patricia was born on January 8, 1932, and grew up in Fort Worth and on her family's farm down Garland Bend on the Brazos River near what would become Possum Kingdom Lake. A place that shaped her grit, humor, sense of family, and quiet confidence. She graduated from Riverside High School and went on to business school, where she was recruited to attend the CIA special school to then work as an administrative assistant for the CIA, for ten years before settling down. She was an avid water skier and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in her young adult years.

She was married to the love of her life, Jim Borman Jr, and together they built something extraordinary, a family rooted in love, faith, and loyalty. Raising seven children was no small feat, but Patricia handled it with strength, patience, and a sense of humor. Of all her accomplishments, her marriage and her children were what she was most proud of.

Throughout her career, she worked as an administrative assistant in different business sectors: clandestine government agencies, construction, finance, medical and finally as the administrative assistant to the director of adoption agency, Hope Cottage in Dallas.

She had a creative, generous soul. After retirement, she refurbished furniture, crocheted, and made the most beautiful baby quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found unexpected joy raising beagle puppies, because of course she did. Patricia was cool in the way that really matters. Strong. Kind. Funny. Faithful. Capable. Someone you trusted. Someone you admired. Someone you were proud to claim as your friend.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jim Borman, Jr. and her son-in-law Paul F. Cotter.

Patricia is survived by her children: Phil Bob Borman (Deana) and his sons, Conner, Caleb (Meagan), and Timothy; John M. Borman (Jeana) and their daughter, Celeste; Judy M. Cotter and her children, Sean Lackey, Morgan, and Trevor Cotter (Natalie) and their children Harold and Nadia; Catherine Garland (Danny Jackson); Alice Navarijo (Dr. Joseph) and their children, Catherine, Jordan, and Nathan; Jim P. Borman (Jay) and their daughter, Kaitlyn; and Trisha Borman, PhD (Rick Runowski) and her sons, Hunter and Rhodes Borman.

She was the matriarch of the Garland family and will be missed by many who called her “Mom”, “Grandmommy” and “Aunt Pat.” All will miss her more than words can say.
