Peggy Joyce Choat, 89, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Peggy was born August 18, 1936 in Jacksboro, TX to the late John A. and Thelma (Martin) Williams. She married the love of her life, Jerry Choat on April 16, 1955 in Graham, TX.
Peggy celebrated 70 years of marriage to Jerry this past April, surrounded by her large and loving family—a milestone that reflected a lifetime of devotion as a wife and mother. Her faith in Jesus was central to her life, and she held firmly to God’s promise and the truth that “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1). She served as a leader with the Camp Fire Girls in Olney and later found fellowship and purpose through Women’s Aglow in Kerrville. Always committed to serving others, Peggy was involved in numerous groups and community outreach efforts through the Methodist church. She cherished traveling with Jerry in their motorhome, spending time together in Ruidoso, Kerrville, and other destinations where she formed lasting friendships. She had a passion for gardening flowers and plants, was a gifted home decorator, and joyfully hosted gatherings in her home. She loved her family deeply and cared wholeheartedly for her community, leaving a legacy of faith, service, hospitality, and love.
Peggy Joyce Choat was welcomed home with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23). Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing she is now healed, whole, and forever in the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Survived by her husband, Jerry Choat of Graham; sons, Tim Choat Sr. and wife, Rita of Olney and Randel Choat and wife, Debra of Cleveland, Tennessee; daughter, Cathy Cathey and husband, Tim of Kerrville; sisters, Betty Dawdy of Bangs and Barbara Brandenberg of Grand Falls; brother, Mike Williams and wife, Kathy of Pyote; 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Peggy was preceded in death by brothers, Jim Bob Williams and Johnny Williams.
