Randy was born in Graham, TX on September 2, 1952 to parents Dorothy Lynn and Morris Stephens.

Randy graduated from Graham High School in 1971. He went on to Texas A&M to major in Mechanical Engineering in 1975. He further pursued his education by receiving a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M in 1976.

Randy met his wife, Rebecca Louise McDonald, at Texas A&M in 1973 and they were married June 14, 1975.

Randy and Becky moved to Washington D.C. to pursue Randy’s career at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. They spent four years in D.C. before returning to Graham in 1980 to work alongside Randy’s father, Morris, in ranching and as an oil & gas operator. Randy and Becky spent the next 41 years in Graham raising their daughter Jennifer and now grandchildren, Grayson and Berkeley. Their family spent many wonderful times together traveling, spending time at the lake, and following their son-in-law, Sam Demel in his baseball career. Randy was incredibly proud of his family and grandchildren and spent much time teaching them about life, math & science, his passion for engineering, ranching and football. He was his families biggest supporter.

In his younger years, Randy was an avid skier, cyclist and golfer. He had a passion for knowledge, hard work, the outdoors, and spreading kindness and generosity to those around him. He rarely sat still.

Randy was very active in his home town. He served as the President of the School Board and served as President of the Young County Appraisal District. During his time as President of the School Board his proudest achievement was overseeing the renovation of Graham High School. He was also a member of Rotary Club and the First Methodist Church.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents Morris Leo Stephens and Dorothy LaVerne Lynn Stephens. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Louis McDonald Stephens, his daughter Jennifer Stephens Demel, her husband Samuel Demel and his grandchildren Grayson and Berkeley. He is also survived by his sister Carol Carter.
