Gale A. Barnett, 83, of Weatherford, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 16, 2020. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Graham Church of God. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Gale was born August 1, 1937 in Graham to Iva (Davis) and Wesley Jefferson Barnett. After graduating from Graham High School in 1955, he married Joyce Virginia Bone on October 28, 1956. They had two children Elaine (Buddy) Wright and Brian (Vickie) Barnett.
He answered the call to the ministry and pastored in the Church of God for 26 years in Omaha, Nebraska, Pueblo, Colorado, and Grand Junction, Colorado. Along the way he furthered his education and graduated from Mesa College in Grand Junction, CO and Lee College in Cleveland, TN. He was promoted to State Overseer/Bishop and served in Montana, Ohio, California, and Texas. He served in many administrative positions in the Church of God and World Missions.
He retired to Weatherford, Texas in 2008. He died peacefully at home on Monday, with his wife and daughter and son-in-law by his bedside. After many years of faithful service, a great man of God has gone home. He is rejoicing with all the family and friends who have gone before him, the "dear saints" (as he always called them) who influenced his life, and those he led to Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Joyce Virginia Barnett, daughter, Elaine (Buddy) Wright of Phoenix, Arizona, son, Brian (Vickie) Barnett of Huntington Beach, California, and sister Mary Thetford of Houston, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sisters, Lois Shaffer and Pauline Lindsey and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Joe Lee Barnett and sisters, Alice Fay Stanton and Lora Jean Barnett.
Visitation will be held Saturday at the Graham Church of God from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
