Ruby Parish Brown of Graham, Texas passed away at home November 23, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Holliday Cemetery in Holliday, Texas with Rev. J. Bryan Patrick officiating. A family visitation proceeding the procession to the graveside will be at Morrison Funeral Home Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 1:00-1:30 p.m. and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later time at First United Methodist Church of Graham. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home in Graham.
Mrs. Brown was born February 4, 1927 to the late Vara Brooks Parish and George Parish, early Archer County ranchers. She was raised on her family’s ranch.
She graduated from Holliday High School where was drum majorette and Football Queen.
She attended Texas Christian University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. It is also where she met Charles Eugene Brown. They married June 30, 1946 at the Parish Ranch home in Archer County.
After college graduation, Mrs. Brown moved with her husband to Wichita Falls where she was active in the Wichita Falls Junior-Senior Forum, Geologists’ Wives’ Club, Criterion Club, Girls Service League and the First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls. She also lived in Abilene, Big Spring and Fort Worth, where she participated in various other civic organizations.
She was a resident of Graham for over 60 years. She was a former president of the then Graham General Hospital Auxiliary, member of the Graham Hospital Board of Directors, the Graham Country Club Board of Directors and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham.
Mrs. Brown was a loving and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for her loving spirit, strong devotion to family and friends, strong will, determination and organization. She was a gracious hostess who enjoyed cooking and entertaining in her home.
Mrs. Brown was the manager of the George Parish Ranch in Archer County for the past 50 years. She was a conscientious steward of the land that has now been in her family for six generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother George (Sonny) Cecil Parish and her husband of 65 years, Charles Eugene Brown.
Survivors include her daughter Deborah (Dee) Brown Deupree and husband James Michael (Mike) Deupree, granddaughter Darcy Parish Deupree McCready and husband Brendan Michael McCready and great-grandson Kellan Parish McCready all of Fort Worth. She is also survived by devoted cousins and friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful caregivers who assisted Mrs. Brown in her home for so many years.
