Ruby Lanham

Ruby Lois Lanham, 97 passed away peacefully at her residence in Graham, TX on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Born on August 15, 1926 in Childress, TX she was the daughter of James Daniel and Grace Wygal Atkisson. Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Bob Lanham, son Jack Dan Lanham, sisters Helen Farmer & Susie Jones, brothers J.D Atkisson and T.A Atkisson. 

Ruby was a graduate of Carey High School in 1944. On March 3rd, 1946, she married the love of her life, Joe Bob Lanham in Childress. They made their homes in Childress, Graham and Mineral Wells, TX over the years. 

Ruby worked and eventually retired from Civil Service – U.S Army Corp of Engineers. She was an avid high school and college football fan. She enjoyed clog and tap dancing and remained very active and independent her entire life. 

Ruby was extremely proud of her 5 great grandchildren. She had deep confidence and belief in what they could achieve. She will always be remembered for her patriotism and love of family and country. 

Ruby Leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith and never holding back an opinion. She accepted Jesus as her savior at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, TX for many years. She is survived by her grandchildren Kelly Lanham and wife Christy of Graham, and Casey Lanham and wife Lindsay of Houston.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 9 a.m. in Childress Cemetery in Childress, TX.
