Russell Thurman Brooks, SR

Russell Thurman Brooks, SR., 80, of Abilene, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Abilene. A graveside funeral is scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham, Texas with Randy Branson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Graham, Texas officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, Graham, Texas.

Mr. Brooks was born December 24, 1928 in Young County, Texas to the late Lewis W. and Mollie (Wenninegar) Brooks. He married Mary Joan Spivey on January 1, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church in Graham. Russell was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Abilene. He was the retired owner of Service Technician Company Incorporated in Odessa Texas.

Survivors: wife, Mary Joan Brooks of Abilene, daughter, Beth Delz of Abilene, son Russell Brooks, JR. of Poolville, sisters, Gwendolyn Thompson and Elisa Neve both of Graham, brother, L.W. Brooks II of Midland. Four grandchildren also survive.
