Scooter Moody Riley

Ernestine “Scooter” Moody Riley, 88, passed away at her home in Newcastle Monday May 26, 2025. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday May 30, 2025 at First Baptist Church Newcastle. Burial will follow in Newcastle Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Scooter was born February 17, 1937 in Newcastle to the late Oleta Movelene (Nelson) Stewart and Ernest Foster Stewart. She graduated from Newcastle High School and from Cosmetology School. Ernestine married Jack Moody December 22, 1953 in Newcastle. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1988. Scooter was a lifetime resident of Newcastle and the co-owner and bookkeeper for Cotton John Drilling. She married Bob Riley May 12, 1990 in Newcastle and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2022. Scooter was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Newcastle.

Survivors include; brother, Jerry “Bugs” Stewart and wife Brenda of Newcastle; nieces and nephews Lisa Moody Grace, Eric and Phillip Stewart, Elizabeth Martinez, Jack McWhorter, Lee Burch, Michael Sanderson, Sandra Joyce, Bill Moody, Mary Helen Hart, Diane Thatcher, Theta and Sylvia Bloodworth; Grandson Bobby Riley and wife Sarah, Bob’s children Brenda Kunkel, Robert Riley, Patty Riley and several grand and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday May 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
