Sylvia Stovall

Sylvia Findley Stovall passed away October 19, 2023 at her home in Graham, TX. Visitation will be held at Morrison Funeral Home on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at Loving Highway Church of Christ on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM, burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Sylvia was born to Olin Alfred and Bonnie Whitener-Findley on November 24, 1939 in Paducah, TX on the old family farm. Eventually she attended Amarillo High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart and ogre, Dick Stovall, on the Halloween of October 31, 1958.

Sylvia spent her life in service to her Lord and family. There are many verses from the Bible that describe her dedication to God. Sylvia was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman, for example, verse 10 states, “…For her worth is far above rubies.” The chapter continues to describe Sylvia in verse 25, “Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.” Sylvia did not quote scripture just to show knowledge; Sylvia lived scripture to influence all who came in contact with her.

In II Timothy 4:6-8, Paul states, “For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord will award to me on that day – and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” Although she will be missed in this world, thanks to God’s assurance and Sylvia’s intentional living, her family and friends are guaranteed to have heavenly reunion.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Dick, her oldest daughter, Stacy Stovall and her husband Doug, son Scott Stovall and his wife, Leonie, and daughter Stephanie Talbott and her husband Harry. She is survived by grandchildren Adonia Faulkner, Molly Talbott, Kelly and Chris Baker, Matthew and Latishna Harris. She is survived by eight great-grandchildren: Morgan, Meredith, Riley, Nathanael, Reid, Charlotte, Eli, Ember, and Andrea and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
