Tommie Jo Hunt, 85, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in her home on Possum Kingdon Lake surrounded by family. Tommie was born May 9, 1938, in Temple to the late Thomas Joe and Clarice Mildred (Canion) Williamson. She married James Frank Hunt July 19, 1957, in Big Spring and he preceded her in death December 12, 2016. Tommie received a master’s degree from Texas Tech University and taught Chemistry and Physics at Levelland High School for 30 years. During these years, she impacted so many young people. Several of them have shared that she was their best teacher and inspired them to pursue degrees in the medical field. Tommie was a very loving, caring, and supportive mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. As per Tommie Hunt’s wishes, her ashes will be mixed with those of her loving husband, Frank Hunt. A family and friends celebration will be planned and scheduled this summer. Both Tommie’s and Frank’s ashes will be scattered at their lake house on Possum Kingdom Lake.

 

Survivors include: children, Heidi Blair and husband, Robbie of Levelland, Holly Roberts and husband, Mark of Alto, New Mexico, and Tony Hunt and wife, Janet of Murphy; brothers, Tim Williamson and wife, Brenda of Houston, Franklin Williamson and wife, Katie Bess of Kerrville, and Trent Williamson and wife, Elena of Fredericksburg; grandchildren, Evan Hunt and wife, Alriah of Richardson, Meredith Grierson and husband, Todd of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Parker Hunt and wife, Emily Hunt of Dallas, Jake Blair of Frisco, Tara Blair and Kevin Hickey of Plano, AnnaLee Fruehling and husband, Trey Fruehling of Shawnee, Kansas; 7 great grandchildren.

 

Memorials may be made to the Frank Hunt Technical Scholarship through the South Plains College Foundation in Levelland, Zoe Empowers, or Rathgeber Hospitality House in Wichita Falls.
