Virginia "Jenny" Marie Harshaw

Virginia Marie "Jenny" Harshaw. Tenacious. Independent. Loving. Giving. Faithful. These are but a few words that describe the wonderful woman who touched so many of our lives. After 13 years battling cancer, Jenny passed away peacefully the evening of December 1, 2008 in the comfort of her home and surrounded by family. She was a gift from God - as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, friend - and she will be missed, but we take comfort in knowing that she is know with her Savior. Although Jenny has been fighting this fight for so many years, she never let it slow her down. Her camping trips with her husband Jon, and journeys to places like Israel, UAE, Alaska, Tahiti, Scotland, and Greece give testament to her spirit and determination to cherish every day she was given on this earth.

Jenny's spirit lives on in her husband Jon Harshaw of Graham; daughter, Amanda Curtis, and husband Brian, of Washington DC; son, BJ Walters, and wife Christin, of Lubbock; mother, Hazel Baker of Graham; sister, Debbie Chamness, and husband Austin, of Graham; aunt, Helen Garner of Abilene; step daughters Kim Gage and Shaun Roberson; nephews Benjamin and Taylor Chamness; and grandchildren Bryson Curtis, Naomi, Ethan, and Levi Walters, Lindie Johnson, Daniel Sean Roberson, and Jason and Justin Gage. We take comfort that she is now with her earthly father Fred Baker.

We invite the many friends and family who knew and loved her to join us in a tribute and memorial service in her honor on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Graham with Dr. Bob Holloway officiating. She will be laid to rest in a small graveside service Friday, December 5, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to a Girl Scout campership established in her honor or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
